My Book Recommendations

As I am starting to type this, I already know my sister will have a lot to say. She used to have her own blog where she talked about books for authors and soon it led to her working at leading publishing companies. I kind of wanted to do it myself for this particular blog post. But obviously different. The idea came to me when I was talking to a friend who lives in Canada. We were supposed to do the Disney College Program together (rip). She asked me for some book recommendations and now I want to share those and more with you!

As we are all home for the holidays or simply not having much to do due to the pandemic, reading is a great pass-time! There are so many genres of books I know you will find one that will call you! I personally love any type of fiction.There is something about being pulled into an alternate universe while your head is in the book. It's warming, welcoming, and sometimes it can break your heart because you become so attached to the characters. But that is what makes it fun. Reading is simply fun yet calming. Now here are some of my favorites in no particular order. But I will warn you, most are romance novels.

The Simple Wild

When my sister sent me this book I was so excited to start reading it. And once I started I did not put it down until it was finished. I have always been fascinated with Alaska and luckily we get a glimpse of the Alaskan ways throughout this novel. We get to watch the main character change from a city life and finally see the beauty of nature while falling in love. It was incredible. I truly did not think this book would have been as emotional as it was but the author certainly twisted my heart several times throughout.

Love & Gelato

This book was just to darn cute. It was a simple read to pick up when you're bored. Being able to follow the main character Lina throughout her self-discovery in Italy was very heartwarming. Follow a protagonist after her mother’s death was difficult as I couldn’t relate but soon I was thrown into the beauty of Italy. It was such a fun and cute read!

Love & Luck

The sequel! Sorta. In this book following Love and Gelato we were able to follow Lina’s best friend and find love in Ireland! Another great and fun read that I highly recommend.

The Unexpected Everything

At first it was so hard for me to finally get into the book as it was so long and kind of slow (so if that is not your thing this might now be the best recommendation). But after 200 pages I was drawn in and nothing was stopping me. We were finally shown Andie (the main character) personality and we were able to understand her. We get to watch as she falls in love after a summer did not go quite her way as she was now a dog walker.

Starry Eyes

This book held my soul. But that seems to be a trend with a lot of these books that I chose. Anything by Jenn Bennett is automatically on my favorite book list. This one is more of a drama love story, which made it all that more fun to read. It was also based around camping and hiking which I LOVE! So we got to watch two childhoods best friends who drifted away end up stuck camping together. It was a never ending cycle of hatred, love, and memories which made it hard to put down.

Serious Moonlight

This is a book by Jenn Bennett. One of my all time favorite Authors. We follow the main character on a journey of self-finding and love. You will definitely not put this one down. It is so sweet and such a simple fun read.

Alex, Approximately

This book tore me apart. And not just because I am a hard romantic. But because I refuse to go back to the book for the mini descriptions. If I had read it, it would have saved me lots of tears. And I do not cry while I am reading. We watch the main character fall in love with a secret mailer and a real-life boy that she met. UGH I can't even go into detail without spoiling it. DO NOT read the back of the book. BUT GO GET THIS BOOK. Oh it is also by Jenn Bennett!

A Court of Thorns and Roses

This is a different book entering the list! (Finally). This is a fantasy novel not quite the dreamy romance books I have been talking about. Lots of blood and death mentioned in this one. Also lots of dark magic. Maybe if you enjoy Harry Potter, this is like an odd compared grown-up version. But really this book was one of a kind and if you like Fantasy, I hope you choose to pick it up!

The Anatomical Shape of a Heart

Surprise! Surprise! I bring to you another Jenn Bennett book. This book follows the heart of a becoming artist. I did not pull into this particular Jenn Bennett book as the other two I mentioned, but it was still a book I had to mention. Basically, Bex is a strong headed school girl who ended up connecting with a vandaliser. Although they both share the passion for art. This book was a bit easier on the heart so I recommend it for after Alex, Approximately.
