Let It Go

Let it go.

That’s what I try to tell myself about 50 times a day and not just because Frozen is my favorite Disney movie. I have such a bad habit of being in a constant state of stress, worry, and feeling overwhelmed. It always starts when I’m running in the morning and cars do not care. They will speed pass me and as they stare at me they miss themselves slowly becoming closer to me. And others glare at me while I just want to pass the street! Umm crazy drivers NEWS FLASH pedestrians have the right of way at a crosswalk.

But why am I getting so mad and having the urge to show the little bird we have on standby 24/7? I should be grateful for the 20 second break I have. But now I'm worried about how it’s affecting my mile time. I just need to breathe. And now I’m reminding you - let it go.

Ask yourself this. Is it going to matter in twenty minutes? Is it going to matter in a year? Maybe don’t let it go if it’s going to affect a whole life of work. But you get the point.

It’s so hard to not worry and be under constant stress if you carry the wonderful gift of anxiety in your brain. But there are shortcuts around it. Here are some tips I have in store for you that could help when you’re starting to get a little bit grumpy about something you might not realize won’t matter in an hour.

You might laugh at this one. BUT

Ask yourself if it’s going to matter. Seems so obvious right? You might battle with yourself and make excuses as to why it will matter. But it probably won’t.

If you’re getting really overwhelmed, try singing the ABCs. It'll give you time to catch your breath and back away from the situation for about 45 seconds.

Drink water. Eat food. Sometimes we start to forget how to rationalize when we are just a tad bit hungry. There is this thing called being hangry. I’m sure my boyfriend could tell you it’s real.

Maybe just maybe break out into song like Elsa and build an ice castle. What a queen. (Yeah maybe not this tip)

But really truly when you are becoming overworked by maybe not being able to choose what to get for dinner, someone cut you off, someone isn’t agreeing with you or maybe there’s a long line at the gas station.. just remember it’s not the end. You’ll be able to eat something soon. You can say all the points you have, agree to disagree. Take the moment to make sure you have everything you need anyways. Check your emails while waiting in line for gas. It may seem huge and never ending in the moment. But is it really? Relax a bit. Stop causing those little stress wrinkles on your forehead. We all can't not keep living in a constant cycle of madness and worry. We have to find ways to stay happy.

You got this.

Let it go and be a dang queen.

Keep smiling,

Kathleen
